![]() Cocoa Beach Pier is a popular spot for tourists to see the ocean. ![]() Once across the causeway you will come out near RonJons Surf Shop. Its has cute little shops, bars and restaurants on the riverfront area. Before you cross the causeway on the right will be Cocoa Village, (slow down as its easy to miss the turn, look for Travis Hardware and turn before or after there, not sure if one side is a one way street). We never miss Miyuki, the candy artist, at the Japan Pavilion in Ecpot. If taking the beachline over, exit onto Hwy 520 to drive thru Cocoa Beach. They're delightful and there's something especially magical about it when it is dark & you are one of the last ones in the park. There is always movement associated with some aspect of the scene. Each depicts a scene from a different Disney animated movie. Then we take our time going up Main Street and enjoy the window displays at the Emporium shop. This isn't a good spot, however, for SpectroMagic & Wishes because people "park hop" over for those two events - especially if they're not offered daily - and the Main Street Hub will be very full.Īnother hidden gem for our family (3 girls) is to stay at MK until the park closes and most everyone has exited. Also, because this is fairly close to the front gates and most people are already in the parks by 3PM, this area will tend to be less crowded for parade viewing than Main Street & areas further in the park. The reason that this is such a great spot is that you see the characters twice - once when they're coming towards you and then again as they turn for a final wave goodbye before exiting the park. You'll see the big gates that the parade will exit through. The area near the Emporium & Fire Station is a great spot to watch the afternoon "Disney Dreams" parade at the Magic Kingdom. Here's a tip we learned on the "Backstage Magic" tour. Now if someone could tell of a place in the Magic Kingdom park (besides Semigirl's travel bag) that served alcohol, now that would be something really hidden. Richard Nixon did his "I am not a crook" speech at Disney's Contemporary Resort. The actual lake called Lake Buena Vista is on Hotel Plaza Blvd behind the AAU headquarters. That's probably something you haven't heard before.Ī couple of slightly obscure facts (or not): My favorite area of MK is around the TeaCups, because of the trees in the area. Pretty much every square inch of Walt Disney World has been analyzed, sliced, diced, etc., so its hard to really come up with something new that few people know about in the theme parks, unless its an unnanounced new feature. Is the Enchanted Tiki Room still around at Epcot? If so, ask Vegas about that.Ī great place to watch the fireworks is The California Grill, but that's pretty well known as well. ![]() Not really hidden either, but I read that (Mykonos, I think) in Islands of Adventure (the Lost Continent section) has been the #1 rated theme park restaurant according to Theme Park Insider mag (I think) for 5 years. If they still had that MK AAA lounge, that would qualify as a really hidden thing to do, but alas, I think its no more. Good stuff, though hardly hidden, for the most part.
